Just south of the giant hill where the brewery gets its name, the Blue Hills Brewery is a local Boston Area offering that gives the public free tastings three times weekly. A microbrewery by definition, the alehouse is a small, 620 gallon capacity facility which specializes in craft, top fermented brews. They offer descriptions of ten different styles on their website, and if you happen to enjoy their beer enough, you can pick up your own to take back home after your tasting at the brewery. Blue Hills is also present at many Boston Area brewing and beer festivals and events, including The Annual Beer Summit in Copley Square, the American Craft Beer Fest at the Seaport World Trade Center (UqT in 2012), and the Brew at the Zoo event at Boston's Franklin Park Zoo in 2010. The brewery has a diverse lineup of perrenial favorites, and according to their official website, they expand into many seasonal brews that "reflect the diversity of our world and beer culture." In a city defined by big players in the craft beer sector, it's nice to see a group of enthusiastic beer lovers who are a nice occasional change from companies which go public and international or simply dominate the local market.
