This lagering based brewery is an Asian brewing giant, particularly popular in Southeastern Asia. The company as it is known today was started as a joint venture between Heineken International and Fraser and Neave (a conglomerate from Singapore) in 1931. Since then, the company has establshed breweries in over 15 countries around the world and has remained a major marketing icon since it's inception. Their flagship beer, Tiger (a pale lager) has been featured in novels, tv shows, and movies such as the 2008 comedic hit Tropic Thunder. It was also a sponsor of the Detroit Tigers MLB baseball team when they took part in the 2006 World Series (which they lost to St. Louis in 5 games). Asia Pacific breweries also produce Heineken products under liscence. Consistency is what has made this company so successful, sticking to the beers which sell well, especially Tiger, which has kept the same slogan, "It's Time for a Tiger" since brewing began in the 1930s.
